WISDOM FACILITATES ROBUST GLORIOUS MARITAL LIFE (B)

Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
Colossians 3:19 (KJV)

The husband has a responsibility to love his wife as HaMashiach loved the Church. Our opening text states, “and be not bitter against them” meaning that the wife has the capacity not just to annoy her husband but to behave in such a way that will embitter the man. To be bitter means to express severe grief or regret about something. It means marked by strong resentment or cynicism. The husband must know that the wife could behave in ways that could bring strong resentment in his heart towards her and from the beginning make the room to love her in spite. The Church is not close to being perfect but HaMashiach still loves the Church and gave Himself for her. Husband remember that loving your wife has a yardstick and it is a very high one. It is as HaMashiach loves the church and gave himself for her. Loving your wife is something you must be intentional, dedicated and consistent about. She does not need to be perfect to deserve your love. The Church was lost when HaMashiach died for her. It was that sacrifice of love that brought us into relationship with Yahweh. It is loving your wife that will bring out the angel and comforter in her alive. Put showing love to your wife in your budget. Be intentional about it. Your open heavens amongst others depends on your wife’s disposition towards you.

WISDOM FACILITATES ROBUST GLORIOUS MARITAL LIFE (A)

Man is a creation of Adonai. It is also only Him that knows the best way that the man can function and fulfill purpose. That is why, it is wisdom to go to the manufacturer’s manual for man which is the Bible and find out the Wisdom steps to take to maximize his/her life. There are wisdom steps in the Word for every area of the man’s life including his marriage. Marriage is Yahweh’s initiative. He therefore, knows the best way to enjoy it. It is Wisdom to search out the keys the creator of marriage has made available for unlocking the treasures in the institution. It is important to note that the wisdom of Yahweh looks like foolishness with men. However, the foolishness of Yahweh if there is anything like that is wiser than men (see 1 Corinthians 1:25). No matter the school you attended and the resultant certificate that you parade, if you don’t humble yourself and subscribe to the wisdom of Yahweh concerning marriage, you will make a shipwreck of your marriage. The evidence of the foregoing statement is the divorce statistics the world over and looks like the number is more with the well read class. Education is not equal to wisdom. Divine Wisdom is a function of hearing and hearkening to the Word of Adonai. If you are too big to hear and obey the word of Yahweh – the Bible, you are too big for success in marriage. If you are too educated to humble yourself before the Word of Elohim, you are too educated to succeed in marriage. Truth is truth. There is no new generation truth. Truth is timeless and ageless.

WISDOM FACILITATES ROBUST SPIRITUAL LIFE

WISDOM FACILITATES ROBUST SPIRITUAL LIFE

Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.
Deuteronomy 4:6 (KJV)

Wisdom is hearing the Word and doing it. That was what the Lord Yahushua said in Matthew 7:24, “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:“ As long as you remain in the Word, you are going to continue to function in Wisdom. Your spiritual life begins at new birth; at the time your spirit-man is quickened by the Holy Spirit; at the point of surrender to the Lordship of Yahushua HaMashiach (Ephesians 2:1,5,6). Having come alive in HaMashiach, we have to walk in Wisdom to enjoy most successful relationship with Yahweh. The First thing about our lives as new creations is that the food of our recreated human spirit is the Word of Yahweh. 1 Peter 2:2 says, ‘As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:’ In John 6:63 (NET), the word says that ‘The Spirit is the one who gives life; human nature is of no help! The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.’ To grow and mature spiritually, you must be addicted to the Bible in reading, studying, meditating and practising same. You cannot outgrow this process as long as you are on this side of eternity. How long can one go without food before the body wears out? Same applies spiritually, if you starve your spirit of the Word, it will soon die and you would return back to sin.

IF IT IS THIS WISDOM THEN (7): IT IS WITHOUT HYPOCRISY

IF IT IS THIS WISDOM THEN (7): IT IS WITHOUT HYPOCRISY

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
James 3:17 (KJV)

This is the last characteristic of divine Wisdom that Brother James talked about. This Wisdom is without hypocrisy. In Greek, the words for hypocrisy and hypocrite have to do with someone playing a part, as if they were an actor on stage. They’re dissemblers, pretenders who simulate, feign, and pretend to be something they are not (Thayer’s dictionary, entries on G5273 and G5271). The opposite is what we find in wisdom — anupokritos (G505), something that is unfeigned, undisguised, sincere. Somehow, we’re all familiar with the problem of hypocrisy in the Church. For most of us, it’s something we’ve had close experience with. We’ve found ourselves disgusted with others who we identify as hypocrites and we may even have caught ourselves doing hypocritical things. The Bible tells us “wisdom is the principle thing, therefore get wisdom” (Prov. 4:7, KJV). Wisdom is something Yahweh has in abundance and which He is eager to share with those who ask for it (James 1:5). As we grow in wisdom we will become people who are sincere, authentic, and live without hypocrisy.

IF IT IS THIS WISDOM THEN (6): IT IS WITHOUT PARTIALITY

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, …
James 3:17 (KJV)

Acting without partiality is a hard thing to do, but it is a godly thing and therefore worth doing. Part of growing to have the “wisdom that is from above” involves setting aside our automatic human reactions to situations and replacing them with how Yahweh would react. Before we start looking at how we’re to be impartial, it’s important to note that Yahweh doesn’t show partiality regarding whom He blesses with wisdom. James writes, “if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” If you meet the basic requirements — seek Elohim and ask in faith (see James 1:5-6) — then Elohim will give wisdom regardless of your age, background, ethnicity, status, ability, etc. He is not a “respecter of persons” who shows favouritism or twists His rules based on who someone is (see Deut. 10:17; 2 Chronicles 19:7; Acts 10:34). This is very grave when we consider what I Peter 1:15-17 says, “15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation? 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy? for I am holy. 17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:” You only endear yourself to the Lord when you work according His Word.

IF IT IS THIS WISDOM THEN (5): IT IS FULL OF GOOD WORKS

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, …
James 3:17 (KJV)

Good works are simply actions that are good. Yahweh is the creator and definer of good. It is good to do everything He says is good. For example, the Bible tells us that Yahweh’s law is good and is given for our good: “Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good” (Romans 7:12). “Keep the commandments of the LORD and His statutes which I command you today for your good” (Deuteronomy 10:13

IF IT IS THIS WISDOM THEN (4): IT IS FULL OF MERCY

IF IT IS THIS WISDOM THEN (4): IT IS FULL OF MERCY

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy …
James 3:17 (KJV)

Mercy is defined as that aspect of Yahweh’s character in which He does not give people what they deserve. Mercy is a disposition to be kind and forgiving. It is the feeling that motivates compassion. It is the force that alleviates distress and shows great kindness towards the distressed. When you are full of mercy, you pity those who are afflicted and those who afflict and offend you. When you are full of mercy, your default response to those who hurt you is pity not vengeance. This means that vengeful, get-even spirit is not divine Wisdom but earthly, sensual and devilish wisdom. When you are full of mercy, you are patient with people’s quirks. There are just people that behave odd and oppose everything. When you are full of mercy, you exercise a lot of patience with people’s quirks. What person in your life has irritating quirks? How can you practice patience with that person this today and this week? Colossians 3:12 admonishes to ‘Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;’ The bowel is the inner most being of a person which is often considered by Hebrews as the seat of the tenderer affections, especially kindness, benevolence, and compassion. This is telling us that our mercy should flow from our innermost being and not a fake camouflage. That when you see someone in trouble, something should well up from your depth to show mercy to the person.

IF IT IS THIS WISDOM THEN (3): IT IS EASY TO BE ENTREATED

IF IT IS THIS WISDOM THEN (3): IT IS EASY TO BE ENTREATED

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated …
James 3:17 (KJV)

The Greek word translated easy to be entreated is ‘eupeithes’ meaning easily obeying, compliant. According to James 3:17, one of the signs that Yahweh’s wisdom is at work in a person’s heart is that he is “easy to be entreated.” Such a person is approachable, reasonable, willing to listen, to be persuaded, and to yield. He is not stubborn, obstinate, controlling, or overbearing. The “wisdom that is from above” produces a mildness of disposition, a meekness of spirit, that characterizes true gentleness (see James 3:13). This doesn’t mean that this attribute swallows everything that comes hook, line and sinker. It does not mean that it accepts injustice and puts up with unrighteousness. This Wisdom ensures that justice prevails. It ensures that unrighteousness is eliminated. However, this Wisdom listens and seeks to understand the position of others without asserting oneself.

IF IT IS THIS WISDOM THEN (2): IT IS PEACEABLE

IF IT IS THIS WISDOM THEN (2): IT IS PEACEABLE

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable,…
James 3:17 (KJV)

The wisdom from above also ensures that you enjoy supernatural rest. It releases to you peace of mind, peace in your body, peace in your place of work, peace everywhere! Kenneth Hagin tells the story of a time during the second world war, when everyone would run into a tunnel for refuge during bombings. But, there was this old woman who was not seen in the tunnel. Fearing she had been killed, the others were astonished when they saw her a few days later just having a nice time. So, they asked her, “Where were you during the bombing? Why didn’t we see you?” And she answered, “There is Somebody keeping me, who neither sleeps nor slumbers. So there’s no reason why two of us should be awake!” Some people probably got killed while they were running around, but she was at peace! That’s supernatural wisdom giving the enemy a knock out! When peace becomes established in your heart, you give Yahweh room to intervene in your life and situation. That was the principle the Lord Yahushua, the wisdom of Yahweh, operated by when He was fast asleep on a pillow in the midst of a raging storm! Mark 4:37-39 says, “37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. 38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? 39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” He understood that except He was at rest, divine intervention was not in view. Exodus 14:14 says, “The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”

IF IT IS THIS WISDOM THEN (1): IT IS PURE

IF IT IS THIS WISDOM THEN (1): IT IS PURE

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, …
James 3:17 (KJV)

From today to the next couple of days, we shall be looking at the hallmarks of this wisdom. These are the things that show forth that this wisdom from above is operational in you. The Lord Yahushua says in Matthew 7:16, “Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?” The Lord Yahushua HaMashiach, the wisdom of God, asked the Jews of His days confidently: “Which of you convinceth me of sin?” (see John 8:46). He was too sure of His walk of purity. Later it was said concerning Him, “And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?” (Matthew 13:54). It follows therefore that the wisdom on display in His life was rooted in purity. That is why to operate Yahweh’s wisdom, you must be pure, because the wisdom from above is not cunning or crafty, it is pure and open. Those petty things you engage in like bitterness, strife, envy and other works of the flesh are the things that hinder you from operating in the same frequency of wisdom as the Lord Yahushua did. Iniquity is a destroyer; you must destroy it before it destroys your destiny. Iniquity corrupts mentality and your mind is the seat of Wisdom. It follows that you cannot function in this Wisdom from above with iniquity. Sin is a sinker of destiny. Don’t play around it. Don’t feel comfortable with any sinful habit, because the end of sin is death. Galatians 6:7-8 says, “7 Be not deceived? God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption? but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.”
