THANKFUL FOR APRIL 2023

Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;

Here at #WordForTodayDevotional, we devote the last day of every month as our thanksgiving day where we celebrate the grace of Yahweh that has seen us through the month. We do not take for granted the mercies of the Lord from the first of the month to today the thirtieth. What is thanksgiving and what does it hold for the believer especially in ensuring success in soul-winning? First of all, we are appreciating Yahweh for the privilege of salvation. The greatest thing that can happen to man in this side of eternity is salvation. To be saved is the greatest mercy we can receive from the Lord and for that we owe Him thanks. Come to think of it, without salvation where would you be today? If the author is to be alive today without salvation, then his life would have been such that he cannot be proud of. But see what the Lord has done that today we are saved, and sent as instrument to save others. Father, we thank You for the privilege of salvation. We are enjoying good health, providence, supernatural supplies and preservation all because of salvation. We are living in zero fear, praising the Lord all the way just because we are saved. We cannot appreciate you enough for this wonderful miracle of salvation.

WHAT THIS PARTNERSHIP HOLDS FOR YOU (2): POTENTIALS COME ALIVE

Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

The truth is that there are potentials locked up inside of you that are waiting for your active participation in preaching the gospel to be unlocked. There are things that are latent in you beloved and can only be unlocked as the power of Yahweh begins to flow through you to change the lives and destinies of the people in your sphere of contacts. So engaging in the assignment of soul-winning unlocks latent gifts and callings in your life. Whatever Yahweh has given you in terms of gifts and potentials, He is not going to take it back (see Romans 11:29), but they can be untapped until you enter eternity. Preaching the gospel is the easy way to unlock the gifts and calling of Yahweh upon your life. No matter what your secondary assignment on earth is, your primary assignment can bring it to prominence. The gospel raises whatever it comes into contact with, be it your career or business. As you give yourself to the work of preaching the gospel, everything in your life is enhanced because of divine presence. Divine presence is a like a fertile soil upon which whatever you sow on it produces maximally.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS PARTNERSHIP (8): PERSEVERE AND BE PATIENT

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Galatians 6:9 (KJV)

There is no other work that require so much patience and perseverance like the kingdom business of soul winning. This is because people are not usually won to Christ in a day. There is the process of planting the seed of the Word of God, watering the seed and time for it to grow. Then in growth, there are different stages and they require time and efforts. The soul-winner needs to continue doing well because in due season, he/she will reap. To be successful therefore, in soul-winning, patience and perseverance is none negotiable. The devil does not have power but what he does is to try to weary you into abandoning the course you are pursuing. No wonder, patience is part of the fruit of the recreated human spirit because you need it in your confrontations with Satan and the gates of hell. Satan will throw many things at you to weary you. Daniel 7:25 says, ‘And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.’ If you understand the way the devil operate, you will know that patience is a vital weapon against the wearing out ministry of the devil. The devil is always seeking to wear you out. You must understand that.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS PARTNERSHIP (4): LIVE IN HOLINESS

Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. II Timothy 3:19 (KJV)

This is one factor that impede the commitment of many to the gospel – a life of unrighteousness and iniquity. Soul-winning demands that the participant is delivered from a lifestyle of sin before he/she can qualify to be used to deliver others. Soul-winning is bearing the everlasting gospel to the next person and it is required that those that bear the vessels of the Lord must be holy and clean. Isaiah 52:11 admonishes, ‘Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the Lord.’ You cannot be meddling with sin and still be free to carry the everlasting gospel. The gospel is holy and uncleanness disqualifies one from bearing it. Living in sin and preaching the gospel is hypocrisy. If what you are preaching is effective, it should save you first. If the gospel you are preaching has not saved you, it would be impotent to effect any change in the life of the person you are witnessing to. Forever, guilt cannot allow you to be effective and successful in the gospel that is why you must clean up. No matter how good an apple is, if you handle that apple with a hand that you used to apply sniper (poison), that apple will be contaminated and can cause death. It is a good apple, the problem is the person bearing it. Same is true about the gospel.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS PARTNERSHIP (2): MORTIFY FLESH

But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
I Corinthians 9:27 (KJV)

The greatest enemy of the recreated human spirit is not the devil. When you were born again, you had dominion over the devil and his gates of hell. The greatest enemy of the born again person is his/her flesh. Self is the greatest enemy of the born again person. There are three forces at war in the life of the born again person: the Holy Spirit, the Flesh and the devil. The flesh is always cooperating with the devil that is why you must put it under. Flesh talks about the cravings of the sinful nature. To be useful and usable in the hands of the Lord of the harvest, you must mortify your flesh. You must come to the altar of burnt offering and lay your body at the altar as a living sacrifice. The reason is that you must be salted with fire to be useful in the hand the Lord (see Mark 9:49). If you are still alive in your flesh, you are not useful and usable for the work of the gospel. With your flesh still alive, you cannot represent the Lord and the gospel in your lifestyle which is the most primary form of evangelism. A self that is still alive is full of pride, easily angry, boastful and self-centered.

PARTNERING WITH THE LORD INVOLVES (3): COMPELLING INVITATION

And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
Luke 14:23 (KJV)

To compel is to force somebody to do something. There are people you will meet, that they themselves don’t know what they want. It is reality. The Lord Yahushua says compel them to come to my house that my house may be filled. A compelling invitation to the Lord Yahushua and to the Church is an invitation that literally moves the invitees to the Church. You pull off every form of resistance to that invitation. “Oh I don’t have money to come”, you pull out cash and give for transport. You do everything to necessitate compliance to the invitation. Beloved, the Lord Yahushua has said that you should compel them to come. You should never attend Church without someone following you. When you go to Church and see any empty seat, then you are reminded of the instruction to compel them to come so that my house may be filled. Ensure that someone is going to church with you. “Come and see Yahushua today” and ensure that there is no objection to that invitation. You have all it takes to make a compelling invitation.

PARTNERING WITH THE LORD INVOLVES (2): PREACHING THE GOSPEL

And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

There is nothing sophisticated or special about preaching. Every believer is called to preach. To preach simply means to proclaim, to declare, to publish; to herald. When you talk to your colleague about his eternal destiny, and what the Lord Yahushua has done for him, that is preaching. Preaching is not for special people. It is not for pastors, evangelists, etc. No! A thousand times No! They were a minimum of 120 people that the Lord Yahushua gave the command to go and preach. They were not all apostles or teachers. They were just believers. Some of you go for lunch with your colleagues and all the while you are talking about your football clubs; that is preaching about your football clubs. You could even hear some people arguing about their favourite players from a mile away during lunch break. Beloved, that is exactly what preaching is all about. Instead of talking what does not have eternal value, why not talk about Yahushua HaMashiach. The time is very short. Make the most of every opportunity to help someone make a decision about where he/she would spend eternity.

THE GOSPEL DEFINED

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
ROMANS 10:9 (KJV)

You have been hearing of the term “gospel” and sometimes, we may get acquainted with a word thinking that it means something only to discover that we have been wrong about the meaning we have come to ascribe to the word. The word translated as gospel in the New Testament is the Greek “evaggelion” meaning “a good message; good news” and the verb “evangelizo“ meaning “to bring or announce good news”. Both words are derived from the noun angelos meaning “messenger”. The gospel is the story that tells humanity that Yahweh has finished the work of salvation in and through HaMashiach (the Christ). The gospel is the good news that Yahweh in came into the world in the person of Yahushua HaMashiach, was born of virgin birth by the power of the Holy Spirit, died, was buried, resurrected and ascended to the right hand of the Father and that salvation and eternal life is available in His Name. In I Corinthians 15:1-4, the Apostle Paul enumerated these basic ingredients of the gospel. The gospel is the good news that in the Lord Yahushua we are not just forgiven sinners but we are now new creations with the very life of Yahweh in us (see II Corinthians 5:17, 21). In the Lord Yahushua, we are made the righteousness of Yahweh. In the Lord Yahushua, we are heirs of Yahweh and joint-heirs with HaMashiach (the Christ) (see Romans 8:17). In HaMashiach, we have the power of attorney to use the almighty name of the Lord Yahushua to reign and rule on earth (see Mark 16:17).

HOW DOES YAHWEH-KIND OF FAITH COME? (4): BY KNOWING THE REALITY OF OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

II Corinthians 5:21 (KJV)

This area of righteousness is one of the major arsenals of the devil against the faith of most believers in HaMashiach because they lack the understanding of our righteousness in HaMashiach. Firstly, at new birth, you were born righteous because you took after your father. It is same DNA in your father Yahweh that runs in you. Yahweh is righteous and that nature of righteousness is what you were born with (see 1 Peter 1:23; John 1:13). At new birth, you are not trying to be righteous, you were born that way. The challenge for most people is that this nature of righteousness is only in your spirit because man is a spirit which has a soul and lives in a body. Your soul/mind was not born again. Your body was not born again. So without educating your mind with the word of Yahweh and disciplining your body, you can never manifest this righteousness practically (see Romans 12:1-2; I Corinthians 9:27). In Yahushua HaMashiach you are perfect, righteous and holy. You are complete in Him (see Colossians 2:10). You must educate your mind and discipline your body to conform to this new nature in your spirit. Sometimes, you may fall short but as soon as that happens, confess your sin and fall back in line with that your nature of righteousness.

THE POWER OF YAHWEH’S LOVE (1): DELIVERANCE FROM SIN

“Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.”
Romans 6:18 (KJV)

The greatest challenge of man is not Satan. It is sin. Disobedience to the Word of Yahweh is what brings a person under the dominion of Satan and the gates of hell. Lack of money is not your greatest challenge beloved! Satan doesn’t care if you own all the money in all the Central Banks of the World as long as you are living a lifestyle of sin. Firstly, Sin is your shortener. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” You’ll be looking at glory but you can’t access it. Don’t play with sin, it is not your mate. Secondly, Sin withholds the showers from a life. Jeremiah 3:3 alludes to that, “Therefore the showers have been withholden, and there hath been no latter rain; and thou hadst a whore’s forehead, thou refusedst to be ashamed.” So, sin is behind fruitlessness. Sin is behind wilderness experience most times. If the showers are withheld, everything begins to wither. Thirdly, Sin places one under the dominion of Satan and his cohorts. 2 Timothy 2:26 says, “And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.” Sin is the snare or trap of the devil. Living in sin as a lifestyle is being caught by the snare of the devil. You know what that means? Everything about you will be caged. You may have very great potentials but there will be no expression. Not because the devil is powerful but because of sin. Sin has ensnared you.
