KNOW YAHWEH’S LEADING (3): BY THE VOICE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.
Acts 10:19 (KJV)
The Holy Spirit speaks. The voice of the Holy Spirit is more authoritative than the voice of our own spirit. The Voice of the Holy Spirit is often heard when there is rough sailing ahead. That voice comes to steady you in the path of destiny, so that you are not shaken with the waves. In our opening text, Apostle Peter saw a vision of a vessel coming down from heaven and dropped right before him. In this vessel were all kinds of four-footed beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. Then a voice came to him “Rise Peter, kill and eat” (see Acts 10:13). Apostle Peter retorted by saying “Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.” (Acts 10:14). Then the voice told him “What God has cleansed, that call not thou common.”(vs 15). This whole drama was done thrice and the vessel was taken up to heaven. While Peter thought on this vision, the Holy Spirit spoke to Him the words we read in our opening text. That authoritative voice of the Holy Spirit gave Peter the required impetus to venture into that strange waters of ministry. That authoritative voice of the Holy Spirit was already going to give him the boldness to answer his critics who believe that the gentiles are not supposed to hear the gospel.
