FOUNDATION FOR PROSPERITY (3): AFFECTION

Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
Habakkuk 3:18 (KJV)

Deuteronomy 28:47-48 says “47 Because thou servedst not the Lord thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things; 48 Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the Lord shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.” Today, we want to consider the foundation for prosperity called affection. I define affection as delightsome commitment—getting involved with excitement. There is this prophetic parable in Jeremiah 23:36-39, “36 And the burden of the Lord shall ye mention no more: for every man’s word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of the Lord of hosts our God. 37 Thus shalt thou say to the prophet, What hath the Lord answered thee? and, What hath the Lord spoken? 38 But since ye say, The burden of the Lord; therefore thus saith the Lord; Because ye say this word, The burden of the Lord, and I have sent unto you, saying, Ye shall not say, The burden of the Lord; 39 Therefore, behold, I, even I, will utterly forget you, and I will forsake you, and the city that I gave you and your fathers, and cast you out of my presence:” So you have to be delighted in Yahweh, you have to be excited! Yahweh loves a cheerful giver. That is, Yahweh doesn’t love just the giver, but the one that gives cheerfully. Giving therefore without being cheerful is wasting your seed. It has no future. When you do it as a burden and not as a delight, you end up in shame and reproach. When you don’t obey Yahweh with delight, it’s a curse.

FOUNDATION FOR PROSPERITY (2): DEDICATION

Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
John 12:24 (KJV)

Proverbs 23:26 says, “My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.” Note that Yahweh didn’t say, “My son give Me your cash.” When it comes to kingdom prosperity, if your heart is not there, your cash is wasted! Talking about the Macedonian Church, they enjoyed so much grace in the realm of prosperity, because as Apostle Paul said of them in II Corinthians 8:5, “And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.” When your heart is tuned unto Yahweh, your sacrifices become acceptable, otherwise they have no meaning to Him. People have made too many mistakes hitherto thinking that they can impress Yahweh with the volume of their giving; what moves Him is your heart. We saw the Lord Yahushua beside the offering basket in the temple in Mark 12:41-44 watching what who and who was giving. At the end of the offering, he made a shocking revelation that according to heaven’s assessment for that service, a poor widow gave more than all of them. So, it is not the volume of your offering, but the position of your heart. Is your heart on the Lord Yahushua or not?

FOUNDATION FOR PROSPERITY (1): CONSECRATION

Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
II Timothy 2:19 (KJV)

The foundation of everything that has to do with Yahweh for the man is to depart from iniquity. The problem of man in the first place is sin. Before, man lived in prosperity, spirit, soul and body. In the garden of Eden, there was no disruption in communion with Yahweh, so the spirit of man was very prosperous. His soul was also very prosperous seeing that he named everything without aid and the names he gave them is their name to this day. He operated in the class of Yahweh in his mentality. Then, there was no record of sickness, pain or disease that was able to penetrate his body. He was absolutely a prosperity entity in all realms of existence. Then, came sin and everything changed. Sin is a sinker of destiny. It sank the destiny of Adam and the human race. The foundation for communion with Yahweh is a life of consecration. For man to resume communion with the Lord Yahweh, he must clean up and separate himself for divine use. Consecration is a setting apart for sacred use. It is handing over your life to the Lord for sacred use. It is turning your back to the world and its systems. It is burning the bridge linking you to sin and unrighteousness once and for all and committing your heart and life to Yahweh to please Him and for His use.

THE PURPOSE OF PROSPERITY (5): FOR YOUR ENJOYMENT

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy?
I Timothy 6:17 (KJV)

Our Heavenly Father is not opposed to your enjoyment. One of the reasons He blesses His children is for their enjoyment. He wants you to eat and be full. This scarcity and smallness mentality in you must die today. Deuteronomy 8:9-10 says, “9 A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass. 10 When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the Lord thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.” The Lord brings His people into a land where you will eat bread without scarceness; a land that you will never lack anything in it. Is that not the raw definition of prosperity? Why is Yahweh bringing you to prosperity? It is so that you can eat and be full. It is for you to enjoy the goodness of Yahweh in the land of the living. This is also the reason why prosperity is not just money. You can have money but still you are not enjoying anything. Money with pain in your body is not prosperity. Money with war in your marriage is not prosperity. Money with wayward children is not prosperity. There is no enjoyment when you are not at peace with your maker. So, prosperity is far more than just money and wealth.

THE PURPOSE OF PROSPERITY (4): SO YOU CAN BE A BLESSING

And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
Genesis 12:2 (KJV)

There’s nothing Yahweh does without a reason. He said in Jeremiah 29:11, “I alone know the plans I have for you…” (Good News Bible). Yahweh is a planner. So, what’s His plan or reason for blessing us? Why does Yahweh prosper? “…and thou shalt be a blessing.” That’s not a title, but the reason why Adonai blesses. That’s the only way that the blessing He will bless you with won’t kill or destroy you. Until you understand the secret of being a blessing, you’ll never enjoy Yahweh’s blessings. The level to which you’re prepared to be a blessing is the level to which you will be blessed. Yahweh will never bless you beyond the level to which you are ready to be a blessing. We often sing, “Abraham’s blessings are mine.” Wonderful! But this is the condition – if you’re not ready to be a blessing, neither will Yahweh be ready to bless you. No matter how delicious a meal is for instance, if you’re not ready to “bless” the earth with the waste, you’re likely to die with it. No matter how much you love any dish or how much you enjoy it, you still need to pass the waste out, otherwise, you’ll be a dead man very soon! The reason many are financially dead is because they stopped “going to toilet” financially, i.e. they stopped being blessings unto others. So, they are going about as financial corpses.

THE PURPOSE OF PROSPERITY (3): SO YOU CAN BLESS THE POOR

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
Matthew 25:40 (KJV)

The poor around you are Yahweh-given assets for your increase in life. So celebrate every opportunity with excitement. Matthew 26:11 says, there’s always somebody in need just around the corner.“For ye have the poor always with you…” Deuteronomy 15:11 also adds, “For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.” When you open up your bowels, heaven’s windows also opens in your direction. One of the reasons Yahweh blesses us is so that we can bless the poor around us, to open our hands wide towards the poor and rescue them from the jaws and plague of poverty. Until your arms are open wide to the needy, Yahweh’s window stays shut over you. If you eat all your food and drink your water alone, it will soon run dry. There’s an opportunity around you there, grab it! You may say, “There was somebody I helped the other day, and he did this, he did that”, recounting some negative experiences you had in the past. No! Just keep reaching out to the poor and needy. Don’t say, “When I have a big house…” It’s a big heart you need, not a big house!

THE PURPOSE OF PROSPERITY (2): FOR HIS KINGDOM’S SAKE

Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the Lord shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.
Zechariah 1:17 (KJV)

Yahweh blesses primarily for His kingdom’s sake. The children of Israel were just about to take up their redemption in Yahweh, they were just about escaping the slavery of Egypt; and Yahweh said to them, “You shall not go empty. I will make sure I bless you.” Exodus 3:21 says, “And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty:” And so He transferred the wealth of the Egyptians to them, He blessed them with the wealth of the Gentiles. He gave them gold, silver and brass. He brought them out of bondage with plenty. But in Exodus 35: 4-5 He called for the gold: “4 ¶And Moses spake unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying, This is the thing which the Lord commanded, saying, 5 Take ye from among you an offering unto the Lord: whosoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it, an offering of the Lord; gold, and silver, and brass,” “Take”, not “Go and look for.” He had already blessed them, and out of that blessing, He was calling for offerings from a willing heart, for the building of the tabernacle. He said to them as it were, “Take it, I need it now. It’s Me who gave it to you. You were in rags in Egypt, then I gave you loads of gold and silver to carry. Now take it, bring it here.” And so they responded in Exodus 35:22-23. Please understand this: Yahweh blesses for His kingdom’s sake. When we entrench this into our lifestyle, we keep the taps of His blessings permanently open.

THE PURPOSE OF PROSPERITY (1): TO FULFILL HIS COVENANT

But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
Deuteronomy 8:18 (KJV)

The purpose of anything is the most important part of that thing. Dr Myles Munroe remarked that when purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable. This is particularly true, when it comes to the issue of prosperity. So many people are abusing prosperity because they don’t know the purpose of Yahweh for bringing them into possessions of things. We are going to outline the purpose of Yahweh for manifesting prosperity in our lives. The Lord established a covenant with Abraham to bless him and through him bless all the families of the earth. It was a covenant and Yahweh is committed to His Word if man meets the demands of the covenant. Till date, Abraham descendants according to the flesh are such blessed people that evoke envy amongst their neighbours. The covenant is not only restricted to the descendants of Abraham according to the flesh for the Word says that the seed of Abraham is HaMashiach. Galatians 3:16 says, “Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many? but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.” As many as are in HaMashiach are Abraham’s seed and therefore, heirs according to the promise. Till date the Lord Yahweh is still prospering His people according to that covenant. He does it to establish His covenant that He made with Abraham. That should humble you.

PROSPERITY OF YOUR BODY

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
III John 1:2 (KJV)

Prosperity of the body means well-being in your body, finances, family and relationships. Our heavenly Father desires that you prosper in your body. Don’t allow any devil deceive you; sickness, pain, affliction, disease or any such thing is never the will of your heavenly Father for you. Yahweh is not punishing you with sickness, it is never written. It is however, true that sickness of all manner is in the curse of the law and you expose yourself to them by walking contrary to the Word. As a child of Yahweh, however, who is born again in Yahushua HaMashiach, you have a new nature of righteousness which forbids you to continue living in sin. You may fall into unrighteousness but living in sin is not your nature. Even at that, your Father is not going to punish you with sickness. When you sin, you repent and you are forgiven and that cuts off the hand of the devil. What we are saying today is don’t ever accept sickness, pain, disease or anything that discomforts your body as the will of Yahweh for you. The prosperity of your body is a priority to your heavenly Father. “I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health” is His declaration and He has not changed His mind. Your body is your license to exist on earth. No matter how sound your spirit and soul are, when your body wears out, your stay on earth has expired. The Father wants you to live a long strong healthy life.

PROSPERITY OF YOUR SOUL

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
III John 1:2 (KJV)

Man is a tripartite being. He is principally a spirit that has a soul that lives in a house called the body. Man is not a soul. Man has a soul. There is a difference. Man is a spirit because he was created in the image of Yahweh who is a spirit. At the breathe of Yahweh, his soul came alive. Genesis 2.7 says, “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” It was the breathe of life that brought about the living soul. This accounts why life begins at new birth. You have a dead soul without a living spirit. It is the breathe of life that imparts the living soul. This is very critical for you to understand. When man died, his soul died. But at new birth, he is made alive and that affects the soul also. The soul is quickened at new birth. The soul is your will, emotion and intellect/mind. But the saving of the soul is a function of knowledge. The soul is saved completely as the mind is renewed by the Word of Yahweh. This is a gradual process and this process continues until the person exits time into eternity. But as long as you are in time, you would continually need the renewing of the mind by the Word. The prosperity of the soul is a function of knowledge of the Lord.
