TO ENCOUNTER THE WORD (5): ENGAGE THE HOLY SPIRIT

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself? but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
John 16:13 (KJV)

The Bible is not a newspaper or magazine. II Peter 1:21 says, ‘For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.’ The Bible is the product of the Holy Ghost. The Bible is the collection of the inspiration of the Holy Ghost. This is why it is expedient to engage the author of the Bible in trying to understand and apply what He inspired. It is the moving of the Holy Spirit on the lives of holy men of Yahweh that resulted in the Bible. That is to say that there is no other person that knows the Bible like the author, the blessed Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is our teacher and guide into the deep things of the Father. He guides us into all truth. The Word of Yahweh is the truth and it takes the Holy Spirit to come into this truth. With the Holy Spirit, the Bible is new everyday because He keeps expounding the truth and bringing out new things from same chapter and verse that you have been reading everyday.

OBSTACLES TO ACCESSING THE WORD (4): EVIL HEART OF UNBELIEF

Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
Hebrews 3:12 (KJV)

Unbelief can hinder your access to the Word. Unbelief is an evil heart. Every release from the Lord is on the basis that you believe. If you believe no evidence is needed; if you don’t believe no evidence is sufficient. Unbelief places you where there is no other evidence that can satisfy your curiosity. Unbelief makes Yahweh a liar before you. That is why it’s evil. Unbelief is a great sin, it vitiates the heart of man. If faith is the only basis and link to connect with Yahweh, then you are eternally disconnected from the life of Yahweh in unbelief. The Word will become to you the words of a tail that has no relationship with reality. Evil heart of unbelief leads you to depart from the living Elohim and His Word. This kind of unbelief that hinder us from the Word is not the kind of unbelief that we see in Psalms 14:1, ‘The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.’ This kind of unbelief do believe that there is God but that is all there is to his faith. This evil heart of unbelief does not take Yahweh at His Word. The evidence of faith in the Word is action. When you do not act in line with the Word, no matter what you are saying, you do not believe. In time, your evil heart of unbelief will cause you to depart from the living God.

OBSTACLES TO ACCESSING THE WORD (1): THE WAYSIDE SYNDROME

And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
Matthew 13:4 (KJV)

We shall start to examine the things that stop us from accessing, receiving and walking in the light of the Word. The Lord Yahushua told a parable in the book of Matthew chapter 13 of a sower that went to the field to sow seeds. In interpreting that parable to His disciples, we saw that the seed is the Word of Yahweh (see Luke 8:11). The field is the world. As you hear the Word of the Lord by reading, studying or listening, it is likened to a sower sowing the seed into your heart. Until the seed germinates, grows and bears fruit, it has not achieved the purpose of the sower. The fruits of the Spirit, the fruits of a changed life and the fruit of complete obedience to the Word is what we call the Word building you up and the result is that you enter into your inheritance in HaMashiach. But what is the cause why so many people miss the Word? Let us examine what the Lord Yahushua explained in Matthew 13:19, ‘When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.’ Some seeds fail by the wayside. The wayside is the heart that hears the Word but does not understand it. Let us understand that it is same Word that is being sown, the variance is the ground. So whose fault was it that this ground never understood the Word? It was the fault of the ground. These are the set of people that never heed the Word. They never pay attention to the Word. They never take a hold of it. In the first place, the wayside is not meant to be sown so existing on the wayside is planning ab initio to fail with the Word. They come before Yahweh as his people come, and sit before Him as his people sit; but it is merely for fashion-sake, to see and be seen; they mind not what is said. It comes in at one ear and goes out at the other, and makes no impression.

ATTRIBUTES OF THE WORD (4): THE WORD IS PROPHETIC

We have also a more sure word of prophecy? whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
II Peter 1:19 (KJV)

The Word of Yahweh is prophetic. This means that the Word foretells the events of the future. We have the glimpse of the end by the Word of the Lord. The Word of the Lord speaks to our future and to our moments. Until you are in the Word, you would not have idea of what the future looks like. Everything happening today is already prophesied in the Word. We know that the Word does not fail because what it foretold of old had come to pass, so what it foretell of the end shall come to pass. Anybody that refuses to take warning that the Word has already given has him/herself to blame. The Word shows you the picture of your future. When you come into terms with that, then you will begin to walk in paths preordained for you. Romans 8:29 says, ‘For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.’ Even your salvation is a function of divine foreknowledge. It is because you were marked for salvation that irrespective of your past wickedness, somehow, salvation found you and when you heard the Word, you believed.

ATTRIBUTES OF THE WORD (3): THE WORD IS SURGICAL

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12 (KJV)

When we say that the Word is surgical, we mean to say that the Word has the power to open up your spirit, soul and body and stitch, repair or replace whatever is missing, damaged, or failing. The Word can cut open your spirit, soul and body. That is exactly this surgical dimension that our opening text is speaking about. The Word of Yahweh is sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the dividing asunder of the soul and spirit and of the joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. The Word can cut your body open and remove cancer cell without physically cutting you open but when you go to the doctors or laboratory, they would confirm that you don’t have any cancer any more. Beloved, with the Word in your mouth you can cut off sickness, disease or infection from your body. The Word of Yahweh in your mouth in the name of the Lord Yahushua is a surgical knife that can cut off any pain harassing your life. As a Pastor, this is the way I deal with satanic affliction in the life of the people. I just lay hands on the person and I cut off the hold of that devil in the life of the person in the name of the Lord Yahushua and it is settled.

ATTRIBUTES OF THE WORD (2): THE WORD IS CURATIVE

For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
Proverbs 4:22 (KJV)

The Word of Yahweh produces cure. The Hebrew word translated health in our opening text is ‘marpe’ meaning a medicine, remedy or healing. From Proverbs 4:20 we see that it was Yahweh’s Word that brings about this medicine to all their flesh. When you find the Word, you have found medicine. The Word brings cure to anywhere it arrives. The Word is like the river in Ezekiel 47:9, “And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh.” The Word became flesh and dwelt among us in the person of Yahushua. Yahushua HaMashiach is also known as our Great Physician and the means through which He brings His cure is through His Word. Whatever he spoke to received life. Finding the Word and applying it to yourself is a guarantee for cure because its medicine does not fail. This Great Physician through the Word has preventive medicine. These are set of instructions from the Word that if adhered to, would cause you to walk in divine health all the days of your life. Preventive medicine is how the Lord keeps your body from getting sick in the first place. In preventive medicine, the Lord Yahushua exposes you to the knowledge that will help you maintain your body which is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Most people are sick today not because of the devil but because of ignorance of what to eat and not to eat. To some the cream they are applying in their body has the capacity to cause them cancer tomorrow. Cases of diabetes is almost, apart from where it is hereditary, a function of what you put into your mouth in terms of food and drinks. Hosea 4:6 says that my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. As a new creation in HaMashiach, Satan has no power and authority over your health but ignorance can undo you. So avail yourself of the information the Great Physician by the Holy Spirit living in you is exposing you to.

THE WORD IS TRUTH; IT CANNOT LIE

That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
Hebrews 6:18 (KJV)

The Word cannot lie. It is impossible for the Word to lie. It is something that cannot happen. If the Word says something, it is better heaven and earth expires than for the Word to fail to come to pass. Matthew 5:18 says, “For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” The surest thing in time and throughout all eternity is Yahweh’s Word. It is one thing that you can take with your two eyes closed and still not miss your way or target. It is that sure and even more. The Word has been tried seven times and proved true both in heaven, on earth and in hell. Psalms 12:6 says, ”The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.” We want you to understand how infallible the Word is and that will build trust in the Word that will become your bedrock for unbelievable success with the Lord. The problem is faith. If you can believe the Word, you can become whatever the Word says, no matter how far removed presently from your reality it is. It is impossible for the Word to fail. The Word is the integrity of the LORD YAHWEH. The Word carries in itself the capacity and capability to become whatever it talks about, the only clause is if the person can believe enough to behave in accordance to the demands of the Word. Mark 9:23 says, “Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.”

THE WORD DWELT AMONGST US

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John 1:14 [KJV]

In Genesis chapter one, we saw the manifestation of the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit. The Father spoke the Word and creation happened, while the Holy Ghost was brooding over the surface of the deep. The move of the Holy Spirit alone could not bring about creation. Same today, the move of the Holy Spirit alone in your life, Church, family cannot bring about the creation of your desires. We must learn from the Father, who desired creation and spoke the Word. Creation is a function of the spoken Word and the move of the Spirit. Then, man was created. We had man join the family of The Father, Word and Spirit in the beginning. In the process of time, man sold out to the devil breaking fellowship with the trinity. This resulted in the perfect order being lost and man died (spiritually disconnecting with his source and physically returning to the ground as dust in the process of time) and also inheriting the destiny of Satan which is the lake of fire at the end of the age. To provide man with salvation, the Word had to manifest in the flesh of man. It was the same Word that created all things that was spoken to the virgin Mary that became the Lord Yahushua (see John 1:1-5). The Word was made flesh because He must become like unto his brethren in order to redeem them (see Hebrews 2:17 NET). It must be a man that can redeem the fallen man.

THE WORD IS REAL

It is the spirit that quickeneth? the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
John 6:63 (KJV)

The Word of Yahweh is a spiritual reality. When we say that something is a reality, it means that it is in the state of being actual or real. It means that the state of that thing as it really is rather than as you might want it to be. The Word of Yahweh is a spiritual reality means that the Word is real and an actual person even though it is only related with spiritually. That you do not see it does not in any way reduce or negate its reality. This is critical because you cannot try to understand the Word like you do Physics or Chemistry or any other subject. It takes being in the spirit and being spiritually minded to experience the Word. That is exactly what our opening text is saying that until the Holy Spirit quickens the Word for you, it would remain a story to you. The Word is Spirit and Life and until one is in the spirit, you cannot profit from the Word. At new birth, you have the Holy Spirit in you. It is called the Spirit within. John 14:17 says, ‘Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.’ The work of the Spirit within is to change you into the image of HaMashiach by conforming your character and lifestyle to the image of the Son of Yahweh. As you study the Word, the Spirit within, brings the understanding that makes your life outstanding.

THANKFUL FOR SEPTEMBER 2022

Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O Lord, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy name.
II Samuel 22:50 [KJV]

Colossians 3:17 says, ‘And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.’ Whatever you do in word or deed, give thanks to God. Thanksgiving is what brings perfection to whatever you do in word or deed. For instance, prayer is not acceptable without thanksgiving accompanying it (see Philippians 4:6). Thanksgiving is the common denominator for a life of wonders. From 1st September to this last day of September, we have seen the hand of Yahweh releasing deluge of His Word daily for us. The Word has not been scarce at all and for that we owe Him thanks. Here at #WordForTodayDevotional, we dedicate the last day of the month as our thanksgiving day, where we celebrate the grace of Yahweh that has led us thus far in the month. If you are joining us for the first time, get set to thank Yahweh abundantly today, II Thessalonians 2:13, says that we are bound to give thanks to Yahweh always. It is a duty we owe the Lord. Itemize the things for which you are going to be giving thanks and in the list could be items that are yet to be done. Thank Yahweh profusely for them.
