YOUR FIRST LOVE

Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
Revelation 2:4 [KJV]

The first thing and place in the life of a believer in Yahushua HaMashiach is the Lord Himself. When you consider the sacrifice of love which He paid to purchase our redemption then, it is just due Him anyway. Coming to HaMashiach is encountering His love for you and responding with a yes to that love. It is like how a man woos a woman. When the woman finally says yes to the man, she is saying yes to the man, not his car, house and property. She is saying yes to the heart that won her heart in the first place. Yahushua HaMashiach paid a gruesome price for our salvation and when anyone of us respond to that great love, He Yahushua becomes his/her first love. Why first love, because you never existed before. The believer is a new creation that never existed before. Your first breath in the new life that Yahushua bought and brought for us is Yahushua Himself. He is the first person you meet as you come to life from spiritual death. So He becomes your first love.

If you have ever been born again genuinely. If you have ever met with Yahushua HaMashiach, you would confirm that there is that joy and excitement like that of a teenager that just falls in love with her prince-charming. You want to tell everyone that could lend you their ears about how wonderful Yahushua is and how He has changed your life. This is the experience of all that have genuinely and heartily met with the Lord Yahushua in the new birth. Oh how sweet that early feelings of salvation and love experience with the Lord is! You want to just be in the presence of the Lord. You want to tell everyone about the wonderful salvation that you have just received. Going to fellowship is something you always look forward to. You love and respect your pastor and brethren deeply. Serving in any capacity is your passion and you don’t mind or even see what others are doing or not doing.

This was exactly the situation of the Church at Ephesus. They loved the Lord, laboured and didn’t faint in the service of the kingdom. But then, in the process of time, activity replaced unction, passion for the Lord started waning down until it was completely gone. But you see brethren, your first love is your real love. When you let it go, the Lord considers that backsliding. Revelation 2:5 says ‘remember therefore from whence thou art fallen and repent …’ That means your first love is your real faith. Your first love for the Lord is your real standing and when it is gone, it is seen by the Lord as having gone back to the world. Now how many in the Church today still have their first love for the Lord intact? Beloved, this is a call to repentance today before it is too late. Seek earnestly to come back to your first love for the Lord and aggressively maintain it because it will determine if you will be raptured or not.

REMEMBER: Your first love for the Lord is your real faith and standing before the Lord Yahushua, losing it is considered backsliding.

PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your word to me today. I repent of losing my first love experience in You. I ask that you rekindle the passion, the affection, the intimacy that I had with You when I first believed. Help me to burn hot for you in these last days in the name of Yahushua HaMashiach Amen!

PROPHETIC RELEASE: Today marks a new beginning in your walk with the Lord. I decree a freshness in your spirit now, fresh passion, hunger and closeness with the Lord be released upon you now in the name of Yahushua HaMashiach Amen!
