THE NEW COMMANDMENT

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
John 13:34 (KJV)

Some people wonder if as believers, we are to keep the ten commandments that Yahweh gave Moses for Israel. There’s a difference between the born again person and the old testament people. One striking difference is that the born again person only has one commandment to keep and that is the new commandment of love. Our Master Yahushua HaMashiach said in our text, a new commandment I give you that you love one another. Love is the only commandment for the believer. Is it not striking that the new testament commandment is not to pray, or sing, or read the scriptures, etc. As wonderful as these practices are, they are not the new covenant commandment. The regeneration brings us into a new nature of love and to remain functioning in that nature you must function by love.

Romans 13:8-10 explains how this commandment of love fullfils the whole law. Romans 13:8 (KJV) says ‘Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.‘ When you function by the law of love, you automatically fulfill the whole law of the old testament. Romans 13:10 (KJV) says ‘Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.‘ The new commandment of love fullfils the whole law of Moses. This again echoes the superiority and supremacy of love as we saw in yesterday’s devotional.

In 1 Peter 1:22 (KJV), the truth of the Spirit is the unfeigned love of the brethren, ‘Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:‘ You don’t know the Ruach HaKadosh (Holy Spirit) at all if this pure fervent love isn’t in you. Everything about the Holy Spirit starts with this love. How do you know you’re saved? It’s by this love of Yahweh. 1 John 3:14 says, ‘We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.‘ We know that we have passed from spiritual death to eternal life because we love the brethren. No one is going to have a chance to partake in the rapture who is not abiding in the new commandment of love. Now hear the summary of the gospel in 1 John 3:23 (KJV), ‘And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.‘ Whatever else you hear is an addendum. This is the real original gospel. Surrender to Yahushua who gives you eternal life and by that life of Yahweh comes the nature of love which you must live by. This is the way to live supernaturally and have both heaven, earth and hell at your command. To obey the Master’s commandment of love is to be in command of all realms of existence. Shalom!

REMEMBER: The only commandment for you as a born again person is the commandment of love.

PRAYER: Precious Father, thank You for opening my eyes to see that love is a commandment for me. Help me to keep loving you and the brethren fervently all the days of my pilgrimage in the name of Yahushua HaMashiach Amen!

PROPHETIC RELEASE: I see you emerge a commander in life as you function in this new commandment of love in the name of Yahushua HaMashiach Amen!
