ACCEPTABLE FAST (3): RELEASE THE OPPRESSED

Is not this the fast that I have chosen? and to let the oppressed go free,
Isaiah 58:6 [KJV]

All these things we are enumerating are the things that Adonai said are the fast He has chosen. That means for your fast to be acceptable to Him, you must strive to accomplish these in your fast. Adonai desires that no one lives under oppression of any kind. There are human being oppression to his/her fellow. When the author was leading a Teens’ Church, there was a case of a woman that would put her kitchen knife on fire and when it is hot, she uses it to beat the small girl that she was living with. When that issue came up, if this little girl remove her cloth, you would instantly start weeping, it was an eyesore. We immediately activated that girl leaving that house same day and locked up the woman in question. A delegation was sent to return the girl to her people. That is human being oppression and wickedness to his/her fellow. Just remembering that incident now, tears still runs down my cheeks freely. It was something I have never seen before. When they say that some human beings are beast, I saw it first hand in that case. This was a woman that comes to church that can perpetrate that kind of oppression what would those that don’t even hear the Word of Adonai do?

There are also spiritual oppressions that people labour under. This one can even be worse than physical oppression. Sickness and disease is an oppression of the devil. Delayed expectation some times can be oppression of the devil. Prolonged state of being unmarried is satanic oppression. Extreme poverty in-spite of working hard is oppression of the devil. The list is almost inexhaustible. Whenever you see what negates the Word of God in your life or in the lives of others, you are looking at the result of oppression. In Luke 13:16, Yahushua says “And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?” You see that this woman’s affliction is a direct oppression of Satan. In Acts 10:38, we saw ‘How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil? for God was with him.’ This is the life that we are called to live in Yahushua, to let the oppressed go free. In fasting, we subdue our carnal nature in order to connect to the power of Adonai to send the devil packing in our affairs and in that of the people in our world.

There is what Adonai instituted in Leviticus 25 that is called the Jubilee. It is a year of release. At this Jubilee everyone is released and free to start life. Lands are released, properties are released and slaves are released. This is the will of Adonai that no one is under any form of oppression and He has called you to make it happen on the altar of fasting and prayer. Would you oblige Him?

REMEMBER: Acceptable fast is releasing those that are oppressed.

CONFESSION: I know who I am, an heir of Yahweh, a joint-heir with Yahushua. Just as my Father hates oppression, I also hate it with passion. I desire that all be released and I go about achieving this as I fast. Halleluyah!

PROPHETIC RELEASE: I decree the termination of oppression in your life now in Yahushua’s name Amen!
