THE HORRORS OF SIN (1): SHAME
And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
Genesis 3:10 (KJV)
Shame is a function of nakedness. Sin makes you naked in the realm of the spirit. It is only a mad person that can be naked and not ashamed because there is no more mind to understand what is going on. Sin strips you of every form of covering, leaving you naked. Sin destroys the presence of Yahweh that forms a covering for the man, thereby, exposing him/her to attacks of the wicked. Sin is a barrier to honour in anybody’s life, whether white or black, literate or illiterate, young or old. No matter who you are, sin will never allow you to see honour. Wherever sin reigns, shame reigns. Wherever sin reigns, reproach reigns. Wherever sin reigns, men have no future. When the first man, Adam, sinned in the Garden of Eden, he was stripped naked. Yahweh called out to him, “Adam, where art thou?” Sin obscures you. Sin destroys your visibility confining you to the background of ignominy. Sin will strip any man naked of all honour, dignity and glory. Adam fell from grace to grass; he became a labourer where he was once the king. So sin must die for your glory to rise; sin must die for you to walk in holiness. No honour or glory awaits the crooked, because Proverbs 28:13 warns that “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper.”
